Public Advisory: Sand Lake Recovery Efforts
Residents are asked to refrain from taking motorized boats on Sand Lake.

The Anchorage Fire Department is asking residents to please refrain from taking motorized boats onto Sand Lake for the remainder of today. There is an ongoing recovery effort taking place at the lake due to a canoeing accident that occurred early this morning. Multiple rescue crews are on scene at the lake, including the AFD Dive Team, and it is for their safety and for the effectiveness of the recovery effort that we ask boaters to refrain from using the lake.
