The Alaska Statewide Hazardous Materials Response Team is hosting a 3 day symposium at the Anchorage Fire Department Fire Training Center, 1140 Airport Heights Road, April 25 through 27th. On Sunday, April 27 there will be 3 simulated emergencies to demonstrate the capabilities of the statewide response teams. Scenario one involves the detection and identification of weapons of mass destruction, scenario two involves a railroad tank car with an ignitable and explosive product and scenario three involves an overturned tractor trailer tanker.
These events will take place from 10:15 AM to 12:15 PM and 1:15 PM to 3:15 PM. Instructors of the courses will be available for interviews during the 10:15 to 12:15 PM scenarios.
This symposium brings together a multitude of teams capable of deploying to any location in the State to respond to a hazardous materials release. Members of hazmat teams are joining together from jurisdictions across the State, Military and private industry; and State agencies to develop and practice their skills.
Parking will be off Merrill Field Drive, west off Airport Height Road, at the North side of the Fire Department site.
