Fire Fatality

EARLY MORNING SECOND-ALARM FIRE

CLAIMS THE LIFE OF ONE

At approximately 6:00AM on Sunday, November 4th, the Anchorage Fire Department Communications Center received a report of a structure in the 1200 block of East 11th Avenue. The initial report was that someone was trapped in the structure which is an immediate fire alarm dispatch. Eleven units were dispatched with the first unit arriving on location five minutes after the initial call. A second alarm was also dispatched based upon the entrapment and size of fire. The initial size-up indicated that the 2nd floor of the structure was heavily involved.  The Anchorage Police Department advised that 2 of the 3 occupants were accounted for.  The 3rd occupant was located on the second floor and was immediately transported to Alaska Regional Hospital and pronounced shortly after arriving. The name is not released until next of kin is notified. Fire investigators are investigating the cause of the fire that took this young life.
